Joanne HansonBonney is a Partner at Ares Management Corporation, based in the Los Angeles office. With over three decades of experience spanning investment management and private equity, she brings deep expertise across front, middle, and back-office operations. Renowned as a transformative leader, Joanne currently oversees a global team of more than 50 professionals across four international offices. Her passion for finance was sparked during her time at Crenshaw High School, where she graduated in 1989. Prior to joining Ares in 2013, she served as Operations Manager at Western Asset, where she led multiple operational departments and spearheaded regulatory initiatives.

Joanne is a committed advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in the workplace. She is the Chair and a founding member of the Ares Black Alliance, a leader within the Los Angeles chapter of 50/50 Women On Boards, and Co-Chair of the Talent Acquisition Subcommittee of the Ares DEI Council. Additionally, she serves on the board of Junior Achievement of Southern California and is a founding member of the AltFinance Fellowship—an initiative that empowers HBCU students through education in finance and alternative investments, mentorship, and scholarships.

Joanne holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Urban Studies and Economics from Columbia University in New York. She has also earned several professional credentials, including the ISSP Certified Sustainability Professional (ISSP-CSP) designation and certification from the Center of Sustainability and Excellence (Credential ID 1859).

Joanne and her husband Robert reside in Marina del Rey, California. They are proud parents of three adult children—Benjamin, Zach, and Zoe—and are now enjoying life as empty nesters. In her free time, Joanne loves to travel and explore new places.
