Michele Chow-Tai

Managing Director, Business Development, Fairview Capital

Michele Chow-Tai is Managing Director, Business Development, Fairview Capital and responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans and client strategies that drive the firm’s private equity and venture capital business, identify, and develop new business opportunities, build and expand the presence of the firm and its brands globally.  Michele joined the firm from TIAA where she served as Relationship Manager, Institutional Relationships, responsible for leading client management and planning, product and sales strategies with the firm’s largest and most complex institutions across all business areas.  Prior to TIAA, Michele spent 22 years at HSBC and held a number of key roles including serving as Relationship Manager, Global Reserve Managers and Sovereigns within HSBC Global Banking and Markets.  In this role, she led client interactions with central banks, sovereign wealth funds and the public sector across product areas and business lines. Michele was also responsible for distributing alternative investments solutions and strategies to institutional investors and collaborated with the Bank's investment specialists across all assets classes to identify market opportunities.  Michele also served Vice President, Business Development and Assistant Director for HSBC Financial Products Institute, a division focused primarily on derivatives and structured products client education. Prior to HSBC, Michele spent five years at Moody's Investor Services as a bank and finance analyst.

Michele serves as an Independent Director at 1847 Holdings LLC (NYSE American: EFSH), and is a member of the Governance and Audit Committees. She also served as the Board Chair for the City University of New York (CUNY) York College Foundation and currently holds board positions at the National Association of Securities Professionals – New York Chapter (NASP-NY), NASP-NY Foundation, and the Greater New Haven Chambers of Commerce. Ms. Chow-Tai is known for her expertise in effective leadership, and she actively contributes to the Corporate Advisory Committee of the National Council of Teachers’ Retirement and served on the Advisory Board of LeaderXXchange, a purpose-driven organization that advises and promotes inclusion and sustainability in governance, leadership, and investments.

Michele holds a B.S. degree from the City University of New York – York College, has credentials in business administration and finance, and is currently pursuing a JD at the Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Michele has been recognized with numerous awards, including the AFUW’s Vice Chancellor’s Achievement Award in 2024 and the US President's Volunteer Service Award in 2020.
