Tyeshia Smith is the Chief Strategy Officer at Expect Equity, an investment advisory firm that has developed an innovative fund structure designed to expand the universe of talent institutional investors can access. Expect Equity incubates under-represented public equity portfolio managers with the goal of enabling them to launch independent firms and at-scale funds at the end of three years. As a member of Expect Equity’s Executive Leadership Team, Tyeshia leads a variety of strategic initiatives designed to grow, connect, partner, and engage an ecosystem of institutional allocators who are committed to taking an expansive approach to sourcing and funding investment talent. Prior to Expect Equity, Tyeshia has held a variety of operator roles at the intersection of tech, social impact, economic development, and finance. She served as Chief of Staff at Meta, leading the growth of incubated digital products that powered small businesses led by under-represented business owners, and at Achievement First, a charter management organization, where she managed strategic investments and scaling into new markets. Tyeshia was also the founder and managing partner of an advisory firm, Strategic Mindset Studios, where she advised asset managers on the development of ecosystem infrastructure to support the growth of portfolio companies. Tyeshia started her career at Citigroup in integration planning, managing a portfolio of recently acquired mid-cap companies across industrials, aviation, and consumer staples. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Finance and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Economics from the State University of NY at Buffalo, and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from New York University. A native Brooklynite, she currently resides in Austin, Texas.
